4 June 2021 – Consul General Arvin de Leon visited Bursa on 2-3 June 2021 to call on the latter’s various government officials, business community and the Filipinos residing in Turkey’s fourth largest city.  

On the first day of his visit, CG de Leon called separately on Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat  and Bursa Municipality (the provincial capital) Mayor Alinur Aktaş. With both officials, CG de Leon discussed possible areas of cooperation with the province especially in the field of trade and investments. CG de Leon then met the head of the provincial İmmigration Directorate, Mr. Recep Batu, with whom matters which would most possibly involve Filipinos were also raised.

CG de Leon then visited the headquarters of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry where he was welcomed by the Vice President Mr. Cüneyt Sener as well as other officials of the business group. It was an opportunity for CG de Leon trade and investment prospects between the Philippines and Turkey. Bursa is Turkey’s second biggest city in terms of exports.

Representatives of the Filipino community in Bursa also met with CG de Leon on 3 June 2021. Among the 11 provinces covered by İstanbul PCG, Bursa is home to the second largest concentration of Filipinos living and working outside İstanbul.
