Philippine Consul General Shirlene C. Mananquil (center, in gray) met with Mr. Hamit Altunkaya (center, in blue), Chairman of the Foreign Economic Relations Board, Türkiye-Philippines Business Council (DEIK-TPBC) on 30 May 2024 at the Consulate, to discuss the state of Philippines-Istanbul economic ties, as well as to explore collaborative activities that could energize bilateral trade,  investment, and tourism. Consul General Mananquil was joined by Istanbul PCG’s Economic Team, while Mr. Altunkaya was accompanied by the board members of the DEIK-TPBC.

Established in 1985, Dış Ekonomik İlişkiler Kurulu (DEIK) or the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye is one of the leading business organizations in Türkiye which plays an important role in the development of Türkiye's economic, commercial, industrial, and financial relations with foreign countries. The agreement on the establishment of DEIK-TPBC was signed with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s 25th Summit in Istanbul in 2011, with the objective to provide an effective mechanism for the business communities of the both countries.
