Istanbul, Türkiye, 13 November 2023 - Philippine Consul General Shirlene C. Mananquil met with Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President for International Relations and Alliances, Ms. Özlem Salihoğlu, on 10 November 2023, to enhance collaboration and address mutual concerns.

During the meeting, Consul General Mananquil and Turkish Airlines officials participated in a strategic dialogue, focusing on key issues and concerns pivotal to fostering stronger ties between the Philippine Consulate General and the Turkish Airlines Office in Istanbul. Both parties took stock of the gains from the existing partnership, explored opportunities for increased cooperation, and initiatives to boost tourism between the Philippines and Türkiye.

Consul General Mananquil expressed appreciation to Turkish Airlines for its support and emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication between its Protocol and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Team and the Turkish Airlines ground operations team, as the Consulate General continues to assist Filipino nationals in distress or tourists that are visiting or have transitted the Istanbul Airport. SVP Salihoğlu, on her part, commended the Philippines for its commitment to diplomatic engagement, she expressed Turkish Airlines' dedication to continued dialogue in the many areas of consular and diplomatic work of the Consulate.

Both parties agreed to focus on developing concrete action plans for further collaboration between the Philippines and Turkish Airlines.

Fontelera, ATN Officer Meri Jayne Cinco, and Translator Nazlı Öztürk while SVP Salihoğlu was accompanied by Vice President for Sales (Asia and Far East), Mr. Unit Develi, and Manager for International Relations and Agreements (Asia and Far East), Mr. Nazif Tikenbatar.  END
