PH Consulate General, Bahçeşehir University Gastronomy Culture and Arts Discuss Further Gastronomy, Cultural Collaboration

Istanbul, 02 August 2023 – Consul General Shirlene C. Mananquil visited the Bahçeşehir University's (BAU) Gastronomy Culture and Arts and met with Executive Director David Shipman on 27 July 2023, with the aim to continue fostering cultural exchange and promote gastronomy and arts heritage between the Philippines and Türkiye.
During the meeting, both sides discussed potential joint projects, including gastronomy events similar to the successful partnership of the Consulate with BAU last year in celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, and the possibility of a culinary arts exchange program between BAU and a school in the Philippines.
Consul General Mananquil conveyed a keen interest in incorporating locally-sourced products to enhance sustainability in upcoming gastronomy events to foster cultural appreciation between the Philippines and Türkiye and underscore the profound importance of indigenous ingredients.
Executive Director Shipman gave the Consul General and her team a tour of their state-of-the-art kitchen and other facilities and expressed enthusiasm and commitment to finalizing plans for upcoming collaborations.
Vice Consul Maika Ros B. Fontelera and Cultural Officer Vanah Dominique De Guzman accompanied Consul General Mananquil during the visit.
The Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is under the School of Applied Disciplined, of the Bahçeşehir University. They currently offer one (1) program in Turkish and English curriculum. END
