PH Consul General in Istanbul Mananquil, Istanbul Bar Association President Saraç Meet for Cooperation on Legal Matters

Istanbul, 31 July 2023 - Philippine Consul General Shirlene C. Mananquil and the first female President of the Istanbul Bar Association, Attorney Filiz Saraç, held a productive meeting on 26 July 2023 to discuss various legal matters and explore avenues for collaboration, in line with the Consulate General’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) and Gender and Development (GAD) efforts.
During the meeting, both officials expressed their mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting legal exchange between their respective countries. They acknowledged the shared values of democracy, respect for human rights, and the rule of law that form the foundation of the legal systems in both the Philippines and Türkiye.
Consul General Mananquil and Atty. Saraç also discussed legal cooperation and the improvement of legal services to Filipino nationals in need of assistance. Atty. Saraç mentioned the existence of seven (7) legal help offices in Istanbul as well as the different commissions covering human rights and disasters, among others.
Both parties expressed optimism to strengthening relations between the two institutions and look forward to future collaboration.
