Istanbul, 18 July 2023 - The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul, in collaboration with STNZ Legal, a law firm based in Istanbul, organized a successful hybrid legal seminar for Filipinos in Türkiye on 16 July 2023 at the Consulate premises, in line with its Assistance to Nationals (ATN) and Gender and Development (GAD) efforts.
Legal experts, Attorneys Nazlı Hilal Kaya and Setenay Kaya Özlütürk, shared their expertise during the seminar, providing attendees with valuable information and opportunities for interactive discussions. The seminar aimed to empower Filipinos in Türkiye by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the legal landscape, equipping them with the necessary information to make informed decisions and protect their rights.
The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including updates on Turkish labor law, immigration regulations, social security provisions, family-related legal matters, employment rights, and business regulations.
Around 20 participants attended in-person and more Filipinos joined via Zoom, including representatives from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Lebanon, headed by Labor Attaché Alejandro Padaen. The seminar which was also livestreamed via the Consulate’s Facebook Page had over 300 views.
The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul, together with the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, remains committed to supporting, assisting, and promoting the welfare and interests of Filipinos in Türkiye, fostering closer ties between the Philippines and Türkiye. END
