Istanbul, 19 June 2023 — Philippine Consul General Shirlene C. Mananquil and Deputy Director General of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) Dr. Yeşim Gürer Oymak met on 08 June 2023 to explore areas of mutual interest and potential collaborations in the arts and culture sectors. İKSV, a renowned cultural institution in Turkey founded in 1973, is known for organizing prestigious events such as the Istanbul International Film Festival, Istanbul Music Festival, and the internationally acclaimed Istanbul Biennial.
Consul General Mananquil acknowledged İKSV's efforts and projects as opportune venues to showcase Philippine arts, talent, and cultural traditions. While the Deputy Director General expressed İKSV's eagerness to strengthen cultural ties. Both expressed interest in future joint cultural events, exhibitions, and performances to highlight the artistic expressions of both nations. They agreed to work closely together to develop concrete action plans that will promote cultural cooperation and strengthen the bonds between the two countries.
This meeting marks a significant step in fostering cultural collaboration and deeper understanding between the Philippines and Türkiye. It sets the stage for future partnerships that celebrate the richness and diversity of both countries’ respective cultures.
