PH Consulate General in Istanbul Joins Filipino Community Sportsfest, Kicks Off Independence Month Celebrations

Istanbul, Türkiye — The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul joined the opening of the sportsfest, organized by the Filipino Community in Turkey Pinagsamang Pwersa Filipinliler Derneği (FCT-PPFD) on 03 June 2023 at Çengelköy Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi. Around 250 attendees, including Turkish citizens, gathered for the event, which showcased unity and sportsmanship.
The sportsfest, attended by spiritual groups, Filipino Community organizations in Istanbul, and leaders from the Pinoys in Ankara Community (PAC), featured nine (9) volleyball teams and four (4) basketball teams. The exciting tournament will culminate in a Grand Finals in July, with the date dependent on the weekly winners.
The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul applauds the Filipino community for their dedication and organization, fostering unity and an active lifestyle among Filipinos in Istanbul and the whole of Türkiye. This event serves as a remarkable start to the Independence Month celebrations, highlighting the rich cultural heritage and patriotic spirit of the Filipino community.
