10 March 2023 - The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul kicked off the National Women’s Month Celebration last week by observing #PurpleWednesday on 08 March 2023 where all Consulate personnel wore anything purple to show support for gender equality and women empowerment. The celebration coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Day on the same day.
The Consulate also installed a mini-National Women’s Month booth for its consular clients with a photo frame where clients were encouraged to have their photos taken after availing of consular services. All clients were, likewise, given purple tokens with inspirational note cards to spread a positive outlook, give encouragement, and promote inclusivity.
According to the Philippine Commission on Women, purple is globally recognized as the color of women and it symbolizes justice and dignity. Join us in visibly supporting women empowerment and the move that #WEcanbeEquALL by wearing purple every Wednesday until the end of the month. - END
