New PH Consul General Arrives in Istanbul

22 February 2023 — The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul welcomed Atty. Shirlene C. Mananquil, who assumed her post as the new Consul General on 17 February 2023, vice former Consul General  Arvin R. De Leon. 

Consul General Mananquil is the second career Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Istanbul, Türkiye, since it opened in 2019 with administrative oversight and consular jurisdiction over the provinces of Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Çanakkale, Edirne, Istanbul, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Tekirdağ, and Yalova.

Prior to arriving in Istanbul, Consul General Mananquil served in various capacities at the Philippine Embassies in Indonesia and Malaysia as well as in bilateral and multilateral Offices of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Pasay City, Manila. Her most recent designation was Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Middle East and African Affairs. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Sto. Tomas and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of the Philippines.

The Philippine Consulate General, likewise, welcomed the arrival of Vice Consul Maika Ros B. Fontelera who assumed post on the same day, vice Consul Edwin Gil Q. Mendoza. END
