Istanbul, Türkiye, 23 September 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul, led byConsul General Shirlene C. Mananquil, successfully partnered with the Overseas Filipino Bank (OFBank) and the Habitat Association to conduct of a hybrid Financial Literacy Seminar for the Filipino community in the Marmara Region on 22 September 2024 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Levent,  Istanbul, Türkiye. The seminar provided essential financial management tools to empower Filipinos in achieving financial independence for themselves and their families.

The seminar covered key topics such as savings growth strategies, effective budgeting, and available investment opportunities. Mr. Leover A. Loyola, Relationship Officer and Senior Overseas Representative Officer from OF Bank, delivered an insightful presentation on the bank's digital services, emphasizing the importance of saving for the future and offering practical budgeting techniques to help participants better manage their finances. Ms. Dilay Çakır of the Habitat Association complemented this by discussing the significance of saving awareness, building emergency funds, the benefits of time deposits, and managing credit card debt.

The event drew approximately 50 participants, primarily female workers, who were provided with budget binder kits to assist them in tracking their finances. For those unable to attend in person, the seminar was live-streamed via the Consulate’s Facebook page.

This seminar is part of the Consulate General’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) and Gender and Development (GAD) programs for 2024, reinforcing its commitment to the financial well-being of the Filipino community in the Marmara Region. END
