In celebration of May as National Heritage Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul in cooperation with the Atatürk Kültür Merkezi (AKM) is proud to present “As the Dust Settled ” -- a lecture and visual presentation on the emergence of Philippine modern and contemporary art as it developed after the devastation by the Second World War and the country’s liberation from colonial rule.

The talk is presented by Wawi Navarroza, a multi-awarded, Istanbul-based Filipina visual artist working with photography. Her works explore layered themes of identity, self and surrounding from her experience as a transnational artist, woman, Asian and Filipino. She is also an educator who founded Thousandfold, a platform for contemporary photography in Manila.

“As the Dust Settled” will be on 17 May 2022 at 17:00-19:00 hours at the Atatürk Kültür Merkezi Library. The event is free and open to those interested in Philippine art. It will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Presentation and discussions will be in English.
