20 June 2022- Consul Lorena Joy Banagodos, ATN Officer Meri Jayne Cinco, and Ms. Neriman Secen of the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul, met with representatives of the Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu (SGK) headed by its Provincial Director, Mr. Tuncay Cevheroğlu, at the SGK Office in Beyoğlu, Istanbul on 15 June 2022.
SGK or Social Security System is an institution under the Government of Türkiye that provides social security services to its members which cover health and insurance benefits, among others. The meeting discussed how to disseminate information about SGK's services to members of the Filipino community in Istanbul and encourage more people to sign up for coverage.
Based on SGK's record, there are 1,200 Filipino nationals in Istanbul who are currently enrolled in SGK and about 1,900 Filipinos all over Türkiye. - END
